UMYF

During the month of Novem-ber the youth met for a taco dinner, rolled silverware for the UMW luncheon and bazaar, and baked goodies to hand out as they helped to host the Woodland Floral open house. Woodland Floral made a nice donation for all the help sup-plied by UMYF. We also spent time in study and fellowship. We are ending the month with our annual apple pie fund raiser. Thank you to all who supported us with supplies, la-bor, and by purchasing pies.

UMYF will be hosting the soup supper before the Advent Service on Dec. 1st. Also in De-cember, the middle school group will be having a lock-in retreat and we will help to pack food baskets for the Sharing Tree families.
We are still hoping to find a couple of enthusiastic volun-teers who are willing to chaper-one the youth during the an-nual 30 Hour Famine which will occur Feb. 25th - 26th. The kids always look forward to this fun yet educational event. We could use both a male and fe-male adult to spend the night. If you are a possible candidate or can help in any way, please contact Pam Evert (755-2282) or Nancy Woodruff (752-7561) for more information.
Please prayerfully consider this opportunity to be of service to our youth.
If you are in middle school or high school, please join us on Wednesday nights!

Smith Memorial Day Care

This time of year all our little ones are a constant reminder of all we
have to be thankful for. We are blessed to have this job and work with
children who get excited about everything everyday!
The Day Care Board is instrumental in keeping us going and for their
constant support of the members of this church! You help us in so many
ways.

Recently Four of us attended an Early Childhood Conference in Missoula
and got so much out of it.
We have a Christmas program coming up on December 16th. Also we
are looking forward to the Day Care Board Luncheon which will be on
December 9th-yum, yum!

United Methodist Women

UMW would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who worked to make our annual bazaar such a success. We had a wonderful selection of vendors arranged for by Carrol Bigler, with a variety of items for sale. As expected lefse was sold out in twenty minutes. A delicious soup and pie luncheon was served to over 100 people. The silent auction had thirteen items this year including Irene Houston’s award winning apple pie and a beautiful painting by Pastor Steve.

All this hard work allowed us to raise over $3500.00 to continue our support for
women and children in need as well as local charities. A special thank you to Pam Evert and MYF for wrapping all the silverware. We invite all of your friends and neighbors to our annual Christmas Brunch on December 4th at 10:30. This is a lovely way to begin the holiday season.

Bishops’ letter pledges to protect God’s creation

By Kathy L. Gilbert*
Nov. 3, 2009 | LAKE JUNALUSKA, N.C. (UMNS)
The bishops at their fall meeting unanimously approved “God’s Renewed Creation: Call to Hope and Action,” a document that was started by the 2004
United Methodist General Conference. More than 5,400 United Methodists around the world have had input into the final document.
“We cannot help the world until we change our way of being in it,” the bishops said in adopting the letter.
“We, your bishops, join with many global religious leaders to call for a comprehensive response to these interrelated issues. We urge all United
Methodists and people of good will to offer themselves as instruments of God’s renewing spirit in the world.”

$7.50, Decaf is $8.00.
During our Fellowship Hours between church services, please remember our project and help fill the donation basket.
